Celebrity, Public Figure & Institution Eligibility
The published standard we use to decide who qualifies as a verified celebrity, public figure, or notable institution.
Why we have a standard
A documented, public bar protects donors from impersonators and bought-followers schemes, and protects legitimate public figures from arbitrary rejection. Every admin decision is tied to this checklist — candidates either meet these qualifications or they do not.
1. Authenticity
Every item is required — no exceptions.
Government ID verified
A valid Ghana Card, Passport, Voter ID, or Driver's Licence confirmed via Smile ID biometric KYC.
Selfie / biometric match confirmed
A live selfie matched to the submitted ID to prevent impersonation.
Account identity matches KYC
The account email, declared legal name, and payout name all align with the verified identity.
2. Notable Presence
At least ONE of the following is required. Followers alone do not qualify.
Verified badge on a major platform
A verified (blue check) account on Twitter/X, Instagram, Facebook, or a YouTube Silver Play Button or higher. Follower counts alone are not sufficient — the verified badge must be present.
Press coverage in recognised media
Coverage in outlets such as Joy FM, Citi FM, Daily Graphic, BBC, or comparable reputable publications. Press releases and self-published blogs do not count.
A Wikipedia article
A biographical Wikipedia article about the candidate, satisfying Wikipedia's notability guidelines. Drafts and stubs do not qualify.
Recognised public role
An elected or appointed public official, professional athlete with documented competition history, recording artist with charted or commercially released work, a credited TV/film performer, or a religious leader with a documented congregation.
3. Cause Relevance
Every item is required — this is what separates a Celebrity Cause from a personal fundraiser.
Raising for a cause or third-party beneficiary
Funds must be raised for a charitable cause, community need, or a beneficiary other than the celebrity themselves. Personal fundraisers do not qualify for the celebrity programme.
Manual human review completed
An admin has reviewed all submitted evidence, social proof links, and documents and recorded a decision in the verification review notes.
How a decision is reached
A candidate is eligible only when all three pillars are satisfied simultaneously:
- All authenticity items are ticked, and
- At least one notable-presence item is ticked, and
- All cause-relevance items are ticked.
Invited Fast Track — proactive onboarding
For prominent public figures (e.g. chart-topping artists, national-team athletes, elected officials), BisaFund may proactively send a secure, single-use invitation link — they don't need to apply. In these cases, the Notable Presence pillar is pre-satisfied by platform-vetted evidence (verified socials, press coverage, etc.) recorded by the main admin at invitation time.
No security exceptions: invited celebrities still complete biometric KYC (Authenticity) and the admin still verifies Cause Relevance before approval. The only difference is who initiates and how Pillar 2 is satisfied — the security checkpoints are identical.
Institutions & Organisations — a separate verification track
Notable organisations (e.g. telecoms, banks, NGOs, media houses, government agencies) can also be verified on BisaFund. Institutions follow a modified verification path:
- Authenticity: Business registration certificate (RGD) verified, an authorization letter on official letterhead confirmed, and the official email domain cross-referenced.
- Authorized Signatory KYC: The human representative completes standard biometric KYC (selfie + ID) — the same Smile ID process individuals go through.
- Notable Presence: The institution must have verified official channels, press coverage, or recognised public standing.
- Cause Relevance: Same requirement as individuals — funds raised must benefit a cause or third-party beneficiary.
Institutions can apply directly via the Celebrity Dashboard, or be proactively onboarded through the Invited Fast Track with their corporate documents pre-vetted.
No exceptions, no favouritism
The platform enforces this checklist on the server before any approval can be saved. Admins cannot override the eligibility verdict — if a pillar is unmet, the approve action is blocked. Every decision is logged with the admin's identity and the checklist state at the time of approval.
